WEEE (Waste Electronic & Electrical Equipment) Directive

The WEEE Directive (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) places a legal duty on businesses to ensure that their redundant IT and electrical equipment is diverted from landfill and reused or recycled. It has essentially been designed to ensure that the millions of tonnes of waste electronic equipment produced every year doesn't end up in landfill, and to extend the life of such equipment.

Hazardous Waste Regulations

Hazardous waste is commonly defined as waste that contains substances or has properties that might make it harmful to human health or the wider environment. It does not necessarily mean that such waste is immediately ‘toxic’ but it could pose a threat now or in the future. By controlling hazardous waste we are helping to reduce these risks.

Landfill Directive

The UK Government has been increasing Landfill Tax year on year since 2008. 1st April 2010 saw another increase to a staggering £48 per tonne. At PHS Datashred we operate a zero landfill policy for all waste that can be recycled, keeping our customers costs to a minimum.
