PHS Maxitech shortlisted as finalist for Green IT Awards

14 March 2011

Judges were impressed with the company’s wide range of disposal options for businesses, their community projects and the full time hiring of two apprentices.

One of PHS Maxitech’s recent initiatives is a charity link up with Age Concern UK. In the last year the company has donated 450 pieces of IT equipment worth approximately £8,800 to Age Concern UK.

Anthony Pearlgood, commercial director, says:

“The work we do at PHS Maxitech is all geared to be as sustainable and community driven as possible. This award short list recognises our policy of zero landfill and active encouragement of the reuse of all incoming electrical items.

“We are completely security conscious and wipe all data to HMG Infosec 5 Standard. This has become even more important since the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) was granted the ability to impose fines of up to £500,000 for serious breaches of the Data Protection Act.”

During the last 12 months, PHS Maxitech collected and recycled 280 tonnes of WEEE, amounting to around 50,000 individual items.

The Green IT Awards rewards companies who have made a significant contribution to improving the IT industry's environmental performance over the past 12 months.
