Greenleaf help David Lloyd customers to chill out

Visitors to David Lloyd Leisure Clubs have been feeling the chill lately and it has nothing to do with the weather! With a bit of help from PHS Greenleaf, customers are now able to wind down and chill out in more attractive, greener surroundings.
Plants are often used to establish a relaxing atmosphere so when David Lloyd Leisure Group decided to redesign the outside of many of its clubs to provide a haven for customers, PHS Greenleaf, the UK’s leading exterior landscaping expert, stepped in to help create the perfect outdoor space.
As the UK's leading Racquets, Health and Fitness Group, David Lloyd Leisure appreciates that relaxation is just as important as exercise to help keep the body and mind fit and well. Intent on improving the social areas of its clubs, David Lloyd Leisure Group recruited PHS Greenleaf to provide pleasant outdoor areas for members and their families.
During the process, PHS Greenleaf has designed planting schemes at 20 David Lloyd sites throughout the UK, taking into account requirements at each individual club. Pathways and distinct seating areas have been created using Buxus hedging plants in black timber troughs while Bay pyramid trees frame the doorways, acting as an invitation to experience the relaxation areas. Specimen Olive trees act as focal points in the decking and paved areas, giving a Mediterranean feel – perfect for enjoying an al fresco evening with family and friends.
Keen to ensure that the social areas are welcoming to all guests, big and small, precautions have been taken to ensure child safety by removing decorative pebbles from accessible troughs and using hard wearing plants that can withstand inquisitive fingers. Bamboo has also been placed in some areas to disguise brick walls or other unattractive features.
As part of the project, automatic watering systems have been installed at all sites to ensure that the plants stay at their best. PHS Greenleaf also offers a maintenance service to help keep plants in good condition for the enjoyment of staff and customers, whatever the weather.

We have had to work closely and co-ordinate with the many different contractors on site to get the jobs finished on schedule, with great results. We’ve kept the planting practical yet interesting so customers can enjoy their valuable down time. Many of the plants were cultivated in PHS Greenleaf’s own nursery in Staines or sourced from long-standing suppliers so we have been able to ensure that quality is of the highest standard and know they will be appreciated by David Lloyd’s many visitors.”
So, as the weather starts to warm up, David Lloyd Leisure Group customers can look and feel cooler while enjoying their new greener surroundings, thanks to PHS Greenleaf.
