A Welcoming Entrance for Welcome Break Keele

The Welcome Break service station at Keele, located off the M6 in Staffordshire, has recently refurbished its entranceways at both northbound and southbound sites, to create a smarter, more welcoming experience for customers. And a key part of this refurbishment was replacing the fitted entrance matting as each building is frequented by an estimated three to four million people every year – which means a lot of feet passing through!
Welcome Break used PHS Treadsmart’s Treadwell tiles, which is a hard wearing interlocking PVC tile system with a high quality nylon carpet insert designed to scrape dirt and wipe moisture from footwear. The flexible tiles, which can be installed in footwells or surface mounted, are manufactured from 80% recycled materials making them a great “green” choice. As they are manufactured from PVC, they can easily be cut to shape, making installation a simple task that doesn’t necessarily require professional fitting.
Previously, the site had had an aluminium entrance matting system, which had become worn and required total replacement. Welcome Break Keele recognised the versatility and cost-effectiveness of the Treadwell system, as it allows for individual tiles to be replaced as and when rather than having to invest in an entirely new system.
Alex McMillan, Site Director at Welcome Break Keele said "We’re pleased with the Treadwell entrance matting system, as it is effectively helping to keep our interior tiled floors clean, hygienic, and more importantly, safe to the public to minimise slipping risks. It looks smart too and works well with our corporate colour scheme."
Treadwell Tiles measure 30cm x 45cm x 15mm in depth and are available with blue, brown and anthracite coloured carpet inserts.
