Under the new Hazardous Waste (England and Wales) Regulations which came into effect on the 16th July, fluorescent light tubes are now classified as hazardous waste.

It has recently been announced that the full implemetation of the WEEE Directive (Waste Electronic and Electrical Equipment Directive) is now likely to be further postponed to June 2006.
