Fire Prevention

The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) order 2005 (the “Fire Safety Order”) has been in force in England and Wales since 2006, and it places a duty of care for fire safety on a ‘responsible person’ in the organisation, to keep ‘all relevant persons’ safe.

The ‘responsible person’ is accountable for ‘general fire precautions’ which includes emergency lighting, means of escape, fire safety signs, fire alarm and detection systems as well as staff training and fire extinguishing equipment.
