Data Protection event helps local Belfast businesses
Local Belfast businesses are now well prepared for any new changes to the Data Protection Regulations after attending a free seminar hosted by data security specialists, PHS Data Solutions.
The Data Protection Seminar, which was held at the Gaol, Crumlin Road, and co-hosted by the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), Carson McDowell Solicitors and PHS Data Solutions, was attended by representatives in both the private and public sector of local businesses; all keen to learn more about the Data Protection Act (DPA) regulations and keeping data in a secure way.
With everyone tucking into complimentary refreshments, Shauna Dunlop from the ICO kicked off proceedings by talking about how the new EU data protection legislation affects business, followed by Clare Bates, solicitor at Carson McDowell, to explain the legal ramifications of the DPA in more depth.
Alistair Dicken, Corporate Sales Director for PHS Data Solutions, also discussed the criteria businesses should observe when choosing an outsourced data protection service partner for data shredding, storage and scanning services.
Feedback from the seminar was very positive, with Barry Phillips, Chairman of Legal-Island saying, “A fantastic afternoon, very interesting and informative presentation."
