We’ve been busy exhibiting and participating at the edie Sustainability Leaders Forum in London. The annual flagship two-day exhibition and conference attracting thousands of energy, sustainability and resource efficiency professionals was the perfect opportunity to meet like-minded people and share our latest news about LifeCycle.

Spreading the word about efficiency programmes and sustainability issues is in all our interest. Whilst attending seminars, demonstrations and exchanging ideas with other sustainability leaders, our main focus for discussion was LifeCycle and our initiative to divert 35,000 tonnes of our customers’ absorbent hygiene product waste (AHP) away from landfill.

As market leaders, we recognise we are in a position to help our customers resolve one of their most pressing and costly sustainability challenges. Sending hygiene products, such as nappy, incontinence and sanitary waste to landfill is becoming increasingly expensive. Any business disposing of its hygiene waste in landfill sites must pay increasingly inflated costs in the form of landfill tax. And given that landfill capacity is estimated to run out within a decade, the cost to businesses, and the planet, will continue to rise.

LifeCycle offers a genuine solution to this problem. Our patented plant converts AHP waste into Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF), which could be used to power homes, hospitals and schools. LifeCycle can help businesses meet sustainability targets, whilst mitigating the environmental impact of sending hygiene waste products to landfill.
