At PHS, We pride ourselves on providing a tailored solution to meet the complex needs of the healthcare community. Our focus on offering community services means that we are able to collect a wide range of waste streams from small sites as well as high volume collections.
With our waste management services operating since 2001, having been built on our years of experience of dealing with clinical waste through our washroom division, we are able to provide our customers with a safe and legally compliant option for their infections waste.
We have a UK wide network of PPC permitted Waste Transfer Stations for hazardous waste disposal, currently dealing with waste from thousands of customer sites. Our customers have included care and nursing homes, nurseries, schools, NHS trusts and GP surgeries.
You have a Duty of Care, as a producer of controlled waste, to ensure that anyone who collects, handles, transports and disposes of your waste is authorised to do so.
Waste carriers should be able to prove that they are a Registered Waste Carrier by producing a valid certificate and you will need to keep evidence of this so you can prove you have checked if necessary.
As a regulated Waste Management License holder and operator of a network of Waste Transfer Stations, we ensure that our Station Managers are trained to the highest standard. As a minimum, each Waste Transfer Station Manager will be trained to current legal requirements and possess an IOSH (Institute of Safety & Health) Certificate.
We also have a network of in-house Dangerous Goods Safety Advisors and COTC holders who ensure that all our services operate safely and in strict accordance with legislation and Best Practice Guidelines.
Due to the sensitive nature of waste being collected, all our service personnel carry identification cards and are Data Barring Service (DBS) checked. They also wear a PHS uniform and protective clothing, as specified by our in-house Health, Safety and Environmental team, which makes them easily identified.
Having provided 50 years of service with the help of expert knowledge from fully trained, professional teams located nationwide, PHS is the UK’s leading provider of high quality workplace products and services.
As we’ve supplied everything from washroom products, specialist workplace supplies, document shredding and storage solutions to companies on a local and national scale, it’s safe to say that we know a thing or two about maintaining an inviting, safe and, most importantly, compliant workplace.
To share our knowledge, PHS has compiled a collection of helpful guides, blogs and news articles so you can ensure your business runs as smoothly as possible.
