Creating a brighter future

Creating a brighter future

phs Group is the leading hygiene services and commercial cleaning services provider in the UK, Ireland and Spain.

Our team of over 3,000 expert personnel provides washroom, floorcare, healthcare and a range of specialist cleaning services to over 120,000 customers ranging from large single sites, to multi-national restaurant chains, healthcare establishments and small owner-occupied shops.

We make over 3.6 million visits each year, whether it’s disposing of sanitary waste and nappies, installing hand dryers, soap dispensers, consumables and air purifiers or supplying floor mats to prevent slips, trips and falls. You’ll also find us working within the healthcare industry disposing of clinical, pharmaceutical and dental waste. Our specialist services also include the provision of indoor and outdoor plants, electrical and gas compliance testing services, industrial workwear, and waste compactor and crate rental.

Why phs?

What makes phs different? It’s our commitment to do the right thing. Through our LifeCycle Strategy, we aim to divert up to 95% of our customers’ hygiene waste away from landfill, by using sustainable disposal methods, creating power for the national grid. We help clean up the ocean from plastic by using ghost fishing nets to create Econyl floor mats. We have patented products which deliver significant water and cost savings. We have improved our air freshener range, moving to a 100% carbon neutral, recyclable product, AIRSCENT ECO, which reduces waste and improves customer experience – and our AIRSCENT BURST air freshener fragrances are now smaller, which means we have been able to reduce Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) by over 60%; reduce our packaging and therefore reduce the number of containers needed to transport the goods. This has led to a significant reduction in transport emissions.

We know our customers want to be as green as possible. Responsible waste management is one key way we can all make a difference to our planet. That’s why we have partnered with Vernacare, to offer our customers the innovative 5th Generation Sharpsafe and Clinisafe containers, reducing single-waste plastics and reducing our carbon footprint by 47%.

By using the leading UK commercial cleaning services provider phs, organisations can make a difference to the environment and their bottom line as well as telling a good news story. It’s all about doing the right thing.

Period Equality for all

At phs, we believe everyone should have access to the period products they need. Schools, colleges, universities, business and the public sector have a vital role to play in ending period inequality in the UK and phs Group are here to support with an extensive range of period products, guidance and support to ensure no-one misses out because of their period.

We are proud to be working in partnership with the department for education to deliver their period equality programme to over 20,000 schools in England.

Bin don’t flush

Flushing tampons can lead to sewer blockages and considerable environmental damage to rivers and waterways. Even flushed tampons which are removed during water treatment processes contribute to environmental damage as these are disposed of in landfill where they produce greenhouse gases and contaminate water supplies. Many have explored ways to encourage people to dispose of tampons correctly, but the issue persists. More needs to be done.

In June 2022, we commissioned a whitepaper to understand the full impact of why these products are flushed.

With our unique position, we believe we can help drive change. We have therefore committed to improve education and awareness, fight stigma and take practical innovative steps to support more people to change their behaviour from flushing to binning. You can read our whitepaper here.
