We Do More Than You Think

Developing a workforce that represents society

At phs, we have over 3,000 employees supporting 120,000 businesses in over 300,000 locations. This allows us to offer a wide range of jobs; from sales and customer services to technicians, engineers and marketeers who help us deliver a market-leading service.

Developing a passionate, inclusive, and diverse workplace is at the heart of everything we do. Our culture is focused on encouraging every individual to perform to the best of their ability. We support and fund learning initiatives for all our employees, which includes apprenticeships and industry specific qualifications, as we really do want our employees to grow within the business

In partnership with DFN Project SEARCH and HtF (support services, for adults with learning difficulties), last year we launched a new scheme set to support young people with learning disabilities into paid full-time employment. The scheme at phs will run for 10 months and will see young people with learning difficulties taking on roles with mentors across the entire organisation.

Period Equality for all

At phs, we believe everyone should have access to the period products they need. Schools, colleges, universities, business and the public sector have a vital role to play in ending Period Inequality in the UK and Ireland.

Through our thought leadership whitepapers, campaigning, awareness raising and extensive range of period products, our goal is to ensure no-one misses out because of their period.

We have recently evolved our period products range to ensure we can meet the needs of everyone. Whether it’s standard products, reusable products, plastic-free products or organic products - there is a choice for everyone.

Making a difference

In 2019, we were appointed to the UK Government’s official Period Poverty Taskforce with one common goal; eliminating period poverty. In partnership with Bloody Good Period, phs is leading one of just three workstreams tasked at improving access to period products for those who need it. We believe that bringing together our expertise, experience and resource will create a force to be reckoned with.

We also sit on the Welsh Government’s Period Dignity Taskforce and Blaenau Gwent’s Period Equality Taskforce, which have both been set up to ensure products are reaching the girls that need them.

Period Equality in education

We are currently supporting the Department for Education in England with providing free period products to over 20,000 schools. As well as supporting many local authorities and schools across Wales.

To truly understand the positive impact these free products are having on learners, watch our video, filmed at Portland College.

Giving back

At phs, we are proud to offer free periods products to every employee that needs them, and we would encourage other businesses to follow suit. Not only are these products a necessity, but it also ensures your employees well-being is being take care of.

phs is continuing our work with organisations who share our commitment to period equality with the launch of an exciting partnership with Freedom4Girls – a charity whose mission is to support those who menstruate by tackling the issues associated with period poverty – and our customers are getting involved.

Through our face-to-face exhibitions, we’re donating a pack of re-useable, environmentally friendly period products to Freedom4Girls with every coffee cup used and recycled by our visitors. Our Coffee for a cause stand not only gives people the chance to come along and find out more about our commitment to period equality, but to show their support for an important cause and help our donation campaign.

Our first year featuring the Coffee for a cause stand has resulted in 3940 packs of safe, environmentally friendly period products being donated to Freedom4Girls.

These will be distributed in regions across the UK, Kenya and Uganda to people who are most marginalised and in need of support. Each pack can last up to three years, making it an environmentally friendly and sustainable way for people to manage their menstrual health.

As a business, Period Equality is something we all feel passionate about. Many phs employees from across the phs regions all came together to take part in 10k runs to raise money for period product donate station, ensuring that anyone who needs products, could access them.
