The Background
East Surrey Hospital provides emergency, maternity, children’s and complex services on a greenfield site surrounded by trees and the Surrey countryside. They have extensive and modern facilities you would expection progressive district general hospitals, including MRI and CT scanners, intensive and coronary care units. Their newly refurbished birthing unit has four brand new birthing pools and ensuite rooms decorated to a high standard.
The Challenge
Maintaining a hygienic, pleasant and comfortable washroom environment for patients, visitors and staff is vitally important to the hospital, along with balancing patient care whilst keeping a close eye on costs. Keeping up with the latest developments in hand dryer hygiene technology is imperative, but the constant upgrade of new dryers often requires new panels and redecorating. This can often result in washrooms being out of action for days at a time whilst new dryers are installed, which is far from ideal in a busy hospital environment.
The Solution
phs installed the AIRSTREAM PURE hand dryer, ideal for busy washrooms that need to be hygienic and fully operational 24/7. The AIRSTREAM PURE is innovative in that the back plate and electrical connection can be installed separately to the main dryer unit. Once installed the dryer is easily, quickly and securely locked onto the back plate. For refurbishments or new build sites, this allows the back plate and electrical connection to be installed at first fix, and the actual dryer unit to be installed later. It also allows for fast and efficient swap out, should it be required, as part of the 24/7 service.
We are delighted with the ease in which the AIRSTREAM PURE was installed. Quick and easy, with minimal disruption to users. The dryer looks modern, is the perfect temperature, easy to clean and hygienic to use.
The Result
The new hand dryer has been well received by staff at the hospital. To have the ability to have the back plate installed, and then the option to change the front of the dryer if they upgrade or choose to change colour will be of great benefit to them.
In addition to the convenience of the back plate, the AIRSTREAM PURE contains two HEPA filters which remove 99.9% of airborne particulates from the air, including viruses, bacteria, mould, pollen and other allergens.
