Are air purifiers worth it?
Air purifiers can have an extremely positive effect on air quality when you choose a model suited to the space and maintain them properly.
Almost half of UK adults spend less than an hour per day outdoors according to Bupa, making indoor air quality extremely important for health and wellbeing.
Some considerations and positive benefits include:
According to the Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology, levels of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) can be up to 10 times higher than outdoors, making indoor air quality a major health concern.
Sick Building Syndrome (SBS) is responsible for 24.6 million lost working days each year in the UK. Improving the air quality can help to reduce this for your staff and visitors.
Colds and flu affect up to 15 million people a year in the UK. Respiratory illnesses (colds, flu, allergies, and asthma) are the main reason for doctor visits each year.
Viruses can spread for 50 metres on their own, so stopping these germs can greatly reduce the number of staff who catch airborne viruses.
50% of children suffer from some form of allergy, such as hay fever, during peak seasons. This makes air purifiers a great choice for schools, nurseries or public waiting areas where children might be.
Public and shared spaces, like waiting areas, are recognised breeding grounds for bacteria, viruses, dust, allergens, harsh chemicals, and odours.

The air purifiers have been extremely effective and we have noticed a difference in the number of children we have had off ill. We normally have large numbers of children off poorly during our settling-in periods but this has dramatically decreased this year. The classroom has a much fresher feeling, the musty smell has gone and the environment feels much cleaner.

Yes, all phs air purifiers remove 99.9% of dust particles from the air. They can’t remove dust already settled on surfaces though, so regular cleaning is still needed.
They can but only ones with carbon filtration. HEPA filters alone won’t remove odours, they need a carbon filter which adsorbs odour-causing molecules, helping with smoke, cooking smells, pets, chemicals, and musty odours.
A phs air freshener is a great addition to pair with an air purifier to improve the smell with a long-lasting fragrance.
Yes, they can help with mould as they remove airborne mould spores before they land on surfaces.
They won’t remove mould already growing on surfaces though. You should find the cause of the problem, normally poor ventilation or excess condensation, common in kitchens, bathrooms and basements. If you have a consistently mouldy room, you should try to ventilate and use a dehumidifier alongside an air purifier to maintain a mould free room.
No, they work in similar ways, but there’s a key difference in what they’re designed to do:
Air purifiers remove airborne particles such as dust, pollen, pet dander, bacteria, smoke and mould spores.
Dehumidifiers remove excess moisture from the air to prevent damp, mould growth, condensation, and musty smells.
Yes, but they’re best used alongside a wider allergy management plan. HEPA filters can reduce up to 99.9% of certain airborne allergens such as dust, mould spores, pollen and pet dander reducing the discomfort that some allergens cause.
Although symptoms can greatly improve with an air purifier, they’re not a complete solution to all allergies, so should be used alongside other methods.
We cover the whole of the UK so can service any area regardless of location.
No, there’s no minimum order. We can supply everything from a single washroom to multi-site offices and entire office blocks.
We can advise on a potential number once we’ve called or visited you. The units are designed with different ranges and features so this will determine how many, and where they’re best placed.
