The Background
Providing a wide range of residential, nursing, and dementia care services, as well as rehabilitation and palliative care services, Barchester Healthcare supports 11,000 residents across 207 care homes and 6 independent mental health hospitals.
A leading care provider for over 25 years, Barchester are proud to have 6 of their care homes ranked outstanding by the CQC. Barchester was also named one of the Top 20 Large Care Home Groups 2019 on carehome.co.uk for the fourth consecutive year.
The Barchester teams of highly-qualified and attentive staff are passionate about independence, dignity and choice for all residents within their care. Their well-trained care staff focus on the individual needs of each resident with a personalised care plan, knowing the residents, patients and their families rely on the staff to deliver the right care and support, providing the best kind of care with a whole home approach.
The Challenge
For each of their homes and hospitals, Barchester Healthcare required a service provider with the scale and resource to efficiently manage the mobilisation of off ensive and hazardous waste disposal, across their multiple sites throughout the UK. Over the Christmas period, 50 priority sites across the Barchester portfolio needed immediate support when their current provider failed on their services.
The Solution
phs reacted quickly to Barchester’s waste crisis, and delivered an emergency response to the priority homes, with services including the collection and disposal of offensive waste, hazardous waste and sharps.
After saving the day, phs was awarded the contract to service Barchester Healthcare’s entire care home portfolio.
We’re really proud to have joined forces with phs. Our priority at our Barchester Healthcare homes is to provide the residents we care for with comfortable, living spaces, and having a reliable waste removal supplier is a key aspect of this.
