According to a study by GOV UK on average around “40.4 million tonnes of commercial and industrial waste was generated as of 2020” (GOV.UK). It’s why global recycling day was created to combat both household, commercial and industrial waste ending up into landfill.
What is Global Recycling Day?
Celebrated every March 18th, global recycling day encourages everyone to start thinking about the ways they can dispose of offensive waste encouraging waste to be recycled rather than sent straight to landfill.
With this year’s theme being “Don’t Think Waste, Think Opportunity”, promoting the importance of how offensive waste can be turned into potential through the power of recycling.

Through our LifeCycle Strategy, phs diverts more than 65,000 tonnes of offensive hygiene waste from landfill every year by redirecting it into state-of-the-art energy-from-waste (EfW) facilities.
