London Northwestern & West Midlands Railways were dealing with two persistent problems at Walsall Train Station. Condensation was forming on tiled floors, and rainwater tracked in by passengers was creating a safety hazard for travellers and employees.
High footfall means constant moisture. Free-standing mats weren’t cutting it. The team needed something built for the environment, not just placed in it.
The Solution
phs worked with London Northwestern & West Midlands Railways to design and install a Quadra HD fixed matting system, tailored Walsall Train Stations specific entrances and traffic patterns.

Due to the ongoing issues with condensation forming on the tiled floors and rainwater being trodden through the station, this new fixed matting system has already improved the management of standing water and moisture conditions that staff and passengers are benefiting from. The new fixed matting system looks and feels very robust compared to the previous free-standing mats, and with the quarterly cleaning plan in place throughout the year, this will definitely aid the management of standing water and moisture build-up.
