The Background
Based in the heart of Framlingham’s market town, Suffolk, The Crown Hotel attracts a busy local and tourist trade. It is surrounded with stunning scenery from the beautiful 11th century Framlingham castle, to walks around the outlying countryside and Framlingham College.
The Challenge
Customer experience is a top priority for the Hotel – and the bathrooms play an integral part when guests visit either the hotel or restaurant. As a busy venue, the gent’s bathroom was particularly suffering from bad odours, and frequent blocked urinals.
After experiencing service issues with their hygiene provider, the Crown explored their options, looking for a more preventative solution when managing their washroom services. They were looking for a hygiene provider to provide a full solution, covering the urinals, air fresheners and air care, sanitary bins and nappy bins.
The Solution

phs also recommended the Biozone air purifier, which helps to resolve permanent odour problems by destroying the bacteria that cause malodours both in the air and on surfaces. This unit works 24/7 and is the ideal solution for busy locations.
We are delighted with the results since joining phs. Previously, we faced ongoing challenges with our gents’ toilets – frequent blockages and odours. Along with the urinal system, we also opted for the BIOZONE unit to help combat the smells even further. Each of these services do what they say on the tin, and I’d highly recommend them for our industry.
The Result
After installing these units 12 months ago, the bathrooms have improved drastically. They are free from odour, and to date there has been no issue with the urinals blocking. Should there be a future blockage, phs will be on site to deal with the issue as they have taken full responsibility of the urinal traps as the full solution has been installed.
