From private schools to sixth forms and primary schools to universities, we’ve got a solution for any kind of washroom.
We offer automatic and blade hand dryers, and flexible supply options to suit your needs. Our full-service package includes installation, maintenance and inspections.
Safe and hygienic washrooms are crucial for schools, colleges and unis where there’s a strong duty of care and a higher risk of viruses spreading. Our hand dryers help to reduce the spread of illness and are energy efficient. This makes your students healthier and more hygienic and saves your building money on energy bills.
Why choose a phs hand dryer?
Our modern hand dryers offer significant advantages over older models and competitors, with key features designed to meet the needs of schools, colleges, and universities. Here’s some features across the range:
Air purifying HEPA filters
Air that’s emitted on some of our models is purified by internal HEPA filters, helping to eliminate 99.9% of airborne germs. School and college washrooms can be a hotspot for viruses, so this prevents the spread of illness.
Touchless operation
Reduces the risk of spreading germs compared to older push button models, also helps keep the units looking clean and new. For extra peace of mind, the cases have an antimicrobial additive to reduce build-up of bacteria, germs and viruses.
Cost saving
Some of our models like the Vitesse can cost as little as 5p a day on your energy bill based on 150 uses, and from 17p a day based on 500. A significant saving on older dryers or even packs of paper towels.
Sustainable and eco-friendly
Our dryers are designed to use less energy, and models from our Revive range are made from recycled plastic. This reduces the carbon footprint of our service and can make a positive difference to energy bills, as well as set a great example to students.
Efficient and reliable
We design and make or dryers to include minimal parts, so they are simple and efficient to run, which minimises breakdowns.
Quiet operation
Many of our models carry Quiet Mark Accreditation, making them among the quietest on the market. This can be especially helpful for students who are sensitive to noise, including those with autism or other sensory processing challenges.
Fast drying times
Our models have drying times of less than 15 seconds, reducing the risk of impatient students leaving with wet hands. This is ideal for busy school and uni washrooms and reducing the spread of viruses through poorly dried hands.
How a phs service contract works

What’s the difference between automatic hand dryers and blade hand dryers?
Automatic hand dryers are the most common wall-mounted dryers. They emit warm or cool air downwards to evaporate moisture.
Blade hand dryers have an open design where users move their hands in and out. They use high-speed sheets of air to remove water from the hands.
Both can work well in schools, if you need help deciding we can suggest the best one for your needs.

Are hand dryers better than paper towels?
Paper towels might seem cheaper but if you have an inefficient dispenser you could end up spending a small fortune resupplying it regularly.
Schools, colleges and unis will have a high footfall so you should also consider the waste that paper creates meaning more resource to constantly empty bins and resupply paper. Toilet blockages are often caused by paper towels too, which can lead to wider issues and more cost and disruption.
If you need help choosing, the best thing to do is talk to one of our experts who can talk you through the figures of each relating to your own building. You can also read more in our guide on paper hand towels vs hand dryers.
We supply eco-friendly paper hand towel dispensers if you prefer this option.

We cover the Education sector across the whole of the UK including Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland. We have nationwide depots with local workforces, so wherever you are we can offer you our full service.
No, generally you won’t need to do any plastering or building works, we’re used to dealing with larger older dryers. Our modern hand dryers are often smaller but can be fitted on smart back plates, so you shouldn’t even notice the difference.
With our full-service contract, our products are fully guaranteed for the duration of your contract with us. Any repairs or replacements are included in your agreed price, one of the many benefits of our service.
Installations must comply with the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992, which require safe hand drying facilities in washrooms. In terms of electrics, work must follow BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations) and Part P of the Building Regulations, ensuring:
- RCD protection on circuits
- Use of a fused spur or isolator
- Installation by a qualified electrician
If you choose our full-service option, we’ll take care of the safe installation, following all the necessary regulations and guidelines. We’ll then provide you with all the documentation you need for your records, after the hand dryers are fitted.
They should be wiped down with disinfectant and tested to make sure they’re working properly at least once a day. Water tanks on blade hand dryers need to be emptied regularly to prevent further issues.
Medium to longer term they should be cleaned internally to prevent dust build ups. Dryers with HEPA filters or other filters need to have these checked and replaced when needed.
Lots of this will depend on how busy your washroom is. If you choose a full-service contract with us, we’ll take care of all the inspections and maintenance, so your hand dryer is always ready to go. We’ll give you a schedule of service for each one and upload all paperwork to your Myphs account.
Without a service and maintenance plan, you could easily fall behind creating more problems which normally need urgent attention.
