What’s the difference between automatic hand dryers and blade hand dryers?
Automatic hand dryers are the most common wall-mounted dryers. They emit warm air downwards to evaporate moisture.
Blade hand dryers have an open design where users move their hands in and out. They use high-speed sheets of air to remove water from the hands.

Are hand dryers better than paper towels?
Paper towels might seem cheaper but if you have an inefficient dispenser you could end up spending a small fortune resupplying it regularly.
You should also consider the waste that paper creates meaning more resource to constantly empty bins and resupply paper. Toilet blockages are often caused by paper towels too, which can lead to wider issues and more cost and disruption.

No, generally you won’t need to do any plastering or building works, we’re used to dealing with larger older dryers. Our modern hand dryers are often smaller but can be fitted on smart back plates, so you shouldn’t even notice the difference.
With our full-service contract, our products are fully guaranteed for the duration of your contract with us. Any repairs or replacements are included in your agreed price, one of the many benefits of our service.
Installations must comply with the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992, which require safe hand drying facilities in washrooms. In terms of electrics, work must follow BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations) and Part P of the Building Regulations, ensuring:
- RCD protection on circuits
- Use of a fused spur or isolator
- Installation by a qualified electrician
If you choose our full-service option, we’ll take care of the safe installation, following all the necessary regulations and guidelines. We’ll then provide you with all the documentation you need for your records, after the hand dryers are fitted.
They should be wiped down with disinfectant and tested to make sure they’re working properly at least once a day. Water tanks on blade hand dryers need to be emptied regularly to prevent further issues.
Medium to longer term they should be cleaned internally to prevent dust build ups. Dryers with HEPA filters or other filters need to have these checked and replaced when needed.
Lots of this will depend on how busy your washroom is. If you choose a full-service contract with us, we’ll take care of all the inspections and maintenance, so your hand dryer is always ready to go. We’ll give you a schedule of service for each one and upload all paperwork to your Myphs account.
